Overweight Cat Health Problems – Start by Addressing the Cause

Overweight cat health problems are more numerous and more serious. They need to be treated at source. In other words, the best starting point is to reduce the weight of your cat. This can be much easier and less traumatic for both you and your cat, than you think.

You will never find an overweight cat in the wild. They just don’t exist. So the weight problem is down to domestication. This limits the problems to the diet, the medical system used and the environment of the cat.

The diet is probably the most common cause of overweight cats. Most cats are fed processed food. Processed cat food is far from nutritionally complete’ as is often claimed. And most is far from healthy.

One of the common ingredients in commercial cat food is fat. A lot of fat. Fat is cheap. It’s not wanted in human food. But it exists. By putting it commercial cat food, you are getting rid of it. And creating overweight cats.

Commercial cat food manufacturers care little about the health of your cat. They are much more interested in their bottom line, their profit. And many spend far more on colourful packets and advertising to lure you in, than they ever will on healthy (expensive) ingredients.

By feeding your cat home prepared, human grade, quality, raw meat and bones you may find that not only does your cat slim down easily, without hunger pangs, but the health issues are also resolved.

Making the change over gradually, say over a two week period, can almost go unnoticed. The high nutritional value of the new food will satisfy your cat far more than the nutritionally incomplete commercial cat food will.

It’s not uncommon for drugs and vaccines to be the cause of overweight cats. If you can use a natural health modality, such as homeopathy, for your cat’s health needs, you will find that your cat will tend to get fewer health problems.

The environment you keep your cat in will have a large impact on her general well-being. If it’s supportive of her needs, such as a caring family, access to the sun and outside freedom, no household or garden toxins that will harm her, then you’re looking at a healthy and happy, normal sized cat.
